How it works

From kickoff to operational — typically 10–15 working days

A clear sequence with no surprises. You make the key decisions; we handle the filings.

Week 1 · Days 1–3
Scoping call & document checklist
We confirm company name, share structure, director details, and business nature. You receive a checklist of identity and address documents needed for KYC.
Week 1 · Days 4–7
CR & BR filing
Our licensed TCSP partner submits the incorporation application to the Companies Registry and files Business Registration. The CR typically issues the CI within 3–5 working days of submission.
Week 2 · Days 8–12
Entity live — documents delivered
Certificate of Incorporation, Business Registration Certificate, NNC1, share certificates, and the full statutory register are handed over digitally and in hard copy. Registered address is activated.
Week 2–3 · Days 10–15
Banking introduction
We prepare your banking pack (corporate docs, business plan summary, source-of-funds narrative) and make a warm introduction to our bank partners. Account opening interview is booked on your timeline.
Ongoing · From Month 1
Year 1 secretary & address active
Your company secretary monitors compliance deadlines, files annual returns, and maintains statutory registers. Mail is scanned and forwarded. You focus on running the business.

Timeline assumes complete KYC documents provided at kickoff. Companies Registry processing times may vary. Banking timelines depend on the chosen institution.

Our difference

Real substance — not a shell

HK substance rules tightened in 2024. Banks, HKSTP, and grant schemes now require real evidence that your company conducts genuine business in Hong Kong.

What we set up Why it matters for HK substance
Registered address (real) Satisfies Companies Registry, IRD, and bank KYC. Not a mailbox-only service — mail handling included.
Licensed company secretary Statutory requirement under the Companies Ordinance. Our partner holds the TCSP licence — you are covered.
Full statutory registers Shareholder register, director register, and meeting minutes maintained — required for banking and due diligence.
Bank-account introduction A real HK business bank account is the foundation of genuine operations. Needed to pay MPF, receive income, and qualify for grant disbursements.
IRD & MPF registration guidance Starting the MPF clock is critical for BUD Fund eligibility (6-month MPF record required). We flag this from day one.
Proof from our own ventures
Kangleling 康乐龄, CareEZ, and PierForge are all HK-registered companies we built and operate ourselves. The same setup process, substance practices, and banking introductions we use for ourselves are what we deliver for our clients.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Questions we hear before every engagement. If yours is not here, email [email protected].

Do I need to be physically present in Hong Kong to form the company?
No. Company formation can be completed remotely. You will need to provide certified identity documents (passport copy, proof of address) for all directors and shareholders. Our licensed TCSP partner manages the CR filing on your behalf. Some banks may require an in-person or video-call interview for account opening — we will brief you on this in advance.
Who acts as the company secretary — CompanyForge or a partner?
A licensed TCSP partner acts as your statutory company secretary. CompanyForge is not itself a licensed TCSP. Our partners hold the licences required under the TCSP Ordinance (Cap. 529) to act as company secretary and handle the regulated filings. We coordinate the engagement, manage your experience, and handle advisory — the regulated work is executed by the licensed entity.
How long does it take to open a bank account?
We handle the introduction and preparation of your banking pack (corporate documents, business summary, source-of-funds narrative). Traditional bank account opening in HK typically takes 4–8 weeks from submission, subject to the bank's KYC review. Virtual bank accounts (e.g. ZA Bank, Airwallex) can be opened faster — sometimes within 1–2 weeks — and may be suitable for initial operations. We advise on the best option for your business type.
What documents do I need to provide?
For each director and shareholder: a certified copy of passport, proof of residential address (utility bill or bank statement, dated within 3 months), and a brief background biography. For corporate shareholders: equivalent documents for the parent entity. We send a full KYC checklist at the start of the engagement so nothing is missed.
Can I upgrade to the 出海 Landing Pack later?
Yes. HK Launchpad covers the entity formation foundation. If you need visa support, deeper compliance build-out, or the full grant-readiness stack, we can scope an upgrade to the 出海 Landing Pack (HK$45,000–65,000). The HK Launchpad fee is credited in part toward that upgrade — ask us about the credit mechanic during your scoping call.
Is the registered address a real office or just a mailbox?
It is a legitimate registered address that satisfies Companies Registry and IRD requirements, with mail handling and scan-and-forward included. It is not a serviced office — for HKSTP admission and certain grant schemes, you will eventually need demonstrable physical presence (a real workspace, real meetings in HK). We advise on this when preparing grant applications, and can help you source appropriate space when the time comes.
What happens to the secretary and address after Year 1?
Year 1 is included in the HK Launchpad package. From Year 2, ongoing secretary and address services are covered under the ForgeOps Subscription (HK$8,000–18,000/year), which also includes annual return filings and grant pipeline monitoring. We send renewal reminders well in advance of your anniversary date.
I've already done a ForgeScan — how does the credit work?
If you completed a ForgeScan diagnostic, 50% of the ForgeScan fee is deducted from your HK Launchpad invoice. This is applied automatically — just let us know during the engagement kick-off and we will confirm the credit amount in writing.
