The BUD Fund flywheel — activated at month 12
Every company formed under the Landing Pack becomes BUD Fund-eligible at month 12 — the statutory minimum (1 year operating + 6 months MPF records). We track this date for you and begin your BUD application preparation at month 10. The BUD Fund offers up to HK$7,000,000 cumulative for branding, market development, and operational upgrades. This is not theoretical: your Landing Pack engagement is structured so month 12 is a funding milestone, not just an anniversary.
TCSP note: Company formation and company secretarial services are executed by our licensed TCSP partners in accordance with the Hong Kong TCSP Ordinance (Cap. 529). CompanyForge provides strategy, grant advisory, and coordination; licensed partners execute all regulated filings.

Right fit

Who the Landing Pack is for

The Landing Pack is designed for mainland China companies serious about building real Hong Kong operations — not a mailbox, not a holding structure, but a working entity with substance.

🏭
Manufacturing and trade companies going global
You have mainland operations and need a HK entity for international contracts, USD invoicing, and HKEX listing readiness.
💡
Tech and deep-tech startups targeting HK funding
HKSTP admission, Cyberport CCMF, and the new AISS all require a HK company with demonstrable local substance. You need to be set up right from the start.
🛒
Consumer brands entering HK and international markets
BUD Fund grants are designed for exactly this: brand building and market access. You need the HK entity in place 12 months before you apply.
👨‍💼
Founder-led businesses where key people need to relocate
You need visa pathways for yourself or your team. The Landing Pack includes visa introduction so the whole relocation picture is covered in one engagement.
🤖
AI and software companies
The new AISS (AI Subsidy Scheme) is still blue-ocean — few advisors specialise in it. We map your AI product scope to AISS eligibility from day one of setup.
📦
Companies that tried a cheap shell and need to fix it
Banks declined. Grant bodies rejected for lack of substance. We've seen this before. We restructure your HK presence so it actually works.
Built on real proof: Kangleling 康乐龄 (eldercare food, HK-registered, operating)  ·  CareEZ (dysphagia screening, HKSTP-adjacent)  ·  PierForge (cross-border trade, HK entity, real operations) — these are companies we built and run, not fictional case studies.

What happens, and when

From first call to grant-ready company

A typical Landing Pack runs 8–12 weeks for the core setup phase, with ongoing milestone support through month 12. Here is the sequence.

📋
Week 1
ForgeScan diagnostic (optional fast-track)
If you haven't done a ForgeScan, we run a condensed intake: business model, ownership structure, intended directors, grant aspirations. This scoping call determines your timeline and any red-flag issues to resolve before filing. ForgeScan clients get a 50% credit toward the Landing Pack.
🏢
Weeks 1–3
Entity formation + secretarial setup
Our licensed TCSP partner executes the Companies Registry filing. You receive your Certificate of Incorporation, Business Registration Certificate, company chop, and statutory books. Registered address and company secretary are activated from day one.
🏦
Weeks 3–6
Banking introduction + KYC preparation
We introduce you to our banking partners and prepare your KYC documentation pack — ownership structure chart, director ID, business plan summary, and source-of-funds narrative. We coach you through the bank interview. Account approval timelines vary by bank; we manage follow-ups.
⚖️
Weeks 4–8
Compliance infrastructure: MPF + employer registration
MPF registration for the employer. Employer return filings setup. Tax registration (profits tax). This is the real-operations layer that banks and grant schemes audit — starting the clock on your MPF records is critical, as BUD Fund eligibility requires 6 months of contributions.
🛂
Weeks 4–10 (parallel)
Visa pathway introduction
We introduce your founding team to our immigration partner for Investment Visa or Employment Visa assessment. Visa timelines are independent of company formation — running this in parallel shortens your total time to full operations.
💰
Weeks 8–12
Grant readiness mapping + HKSTP / CCMF assessment
With entity and compliance in place, we map your eligibility: HKSTP incubation (approximately 745 new admissions per year), Cyberport CCMF (up to HK$100,000 for digital tech companies), AISS for AI projects, and your month-12 BUD Fund plan. For immediate-eligible schemes, we can begin Funding Sprint advisory in parallel.
🗓️
Month 3 → Month 12
12-month milestone roadmap + BUD preparation
You receive a concrete milestone calendar. We check in at months 3, 6, and 10. At month 10, we begin preparing your BUD Fund application so it is ready to file the moment your MPF records hit 12 months. Clients who continue with ForgeOps Subscription get automated filing reminders and ongoing grant pipeline coverage.

Questions answered

FAQ — 出海 Landing Pack

Do I need to be physically in Hong Kong to set up the company?
No. Company formation can be completed remotely. You will need to provide certified ID documents and sign certain forms, which can be done via courier or notarisation in mainland China. For the bank account interview, most banks now accept a video call or a representative with a letter of authorisation — we advise you on the right approach for your chosen bank.
How long does the whole process take?
Company formation typically takes 1–2 weeks from filing to certificate. The banking introduction runs 3–6 weeks depending on the bank and the complexity of your ownership structure. The full Landing Pack — including compliance setup and initial grant mapping — is typically complete within 8–12 weeks. Visa pathways run in parallel and have their own government timelines (usually 4–8 weeks for Employment Visa, longer for Investment Visa).
What if my banking introduction doesn't result in an account being opened?
We prepare your KYC pack thoroughly and brief you on the interview — this substantially improves your chances. However, bank account approval is ultimately the bank's decision and we cannot guarantee an outcome. If your first introduction does not succeed, we will review the KYC pack, identify what caused the issue, and introduce you to a second banking partner at no additional charge (once per engagement).
When exactly does my BUD Fund eligibility clock start?
The BUD Fund statutory requirement is that your HK company has been operating for at least 1 year AND has at least 6 consecutive months of MPF contribution records before the application date. The operating-year clock starts from your Business Registration date. The MPF clock starts from when your first employee (including a director drawing salary) is enrolled and begins contributing. We start your MPF registration in weeks 4–8 of the engagement — the sooner this is in place, the sooner your BUD eligibility is unlocked.
Can I apply for HKSTP or Cyberport before month 12?
Yes. HKSTP and Cyberport CCMF do not have the same 12-month operating requirement as BUD Fund. If your technology or digital product qualifies, we can begin Funding Sprint advisory in parallel with your Landing Pack setup — meaning your first grant application can be in flight within weeks of incorporation. We assess this during your grant readiness mapping in weeks 8–12.
What is "real substance" and why does it matter?
Hong Kong tightened substance requirements in 2024. Banks, grant bodies (HKSTP, Cyberport, BUD), and immigration authorities now scrutinise whether your HK company has genuine local operations — real directors making decisions in HK, real employees with MPF records, real office presence, real bank transactions. A nominal or dormant company will be declined for banking and rejected for grants. The Landing Pack is structured to build this substance layer from day one: registered address, company secretary, employer MPF setup, and a milestone plan for adding real staff and directors over the first year.
Is CompanyForge a licensed TCSP?
CompanyForge provides strategy, grant advisory, and client coordination. Company formation, company secretarial filings, and registered address services are executed by our licensed TCSP partner network in accordance with the Hong Kong TCSP Ordinance (Cap. 529). You will receive a formal engagement letter from the licensed partner for all regulated services.
What happens after the Landing Pack engagement ends?
The Landing Pack covers your first 8–12 weeks of setup plus a 12-month milestone roadmap. Ongoing compliance — annual returns, NAR1 filings, profits tax, MPF management, and BUD application at month 12 — is covered by our ForgeOps Subscription (HK$8,000–18,000/year). Many Landing Pack clients roll directly into ForgeOps so that their month-12 BUD application is handled without interruption.
