What is the CompanyForge Bookkeep Playground?
The Bookkeep Playground is an interactive preview of CompanyForge's bookkeeping workflow, including receipt data extraction and journal entry drafting. It lets you try the core steps of the bookkeeping process using pre-loaded sample documents.
What features can I try in the playground?
You can upload receipt images to see how the system extracts key fields, review auto-drafted journal entries, and browse a live demo set of books. The playground is designed to give you a hands-on feel for the workflow before requesting access.
What does the "live demo books" section show?
The live demo books display a continuously updating sample ledger built from synthetic transactions. It illustrates how entries flow from receipts through journals to the general ledger.
Are the playground and the full product the same thing?
No. The playground is a scoped preview focused on the receipt-to-journal workflow and a demo ledger. The full bookkeeping product is a separate, invite-only experience with additional features. ## Demo-Data Boundaries
Is the playground using real customer data?
No. All receipts, transactions, and ledger entries shown in the playground are synthetic and pre-generated for demonstration purposes. No real customer information is loaded into the playground environment.
Can I upload my own receipts and transactions?
Within the playground, uploads are processed to demonstrate the extraction workflow but are not connected to a persistent production account. Any data you submit during a playground session is handled according to the data practices described on the page.
Will the receipts I upload be saved to a real ledger?
No. Playground uploads do not create or modify a production ledger. They exist only within the preview session to show how the extraction and drafting steps would behave.
How realistic is the demo data?
The demo data is structured to reflect typical small-business bookkeeping patterns so the workflow demonstration is meaningful. It is clearly labeled as sample data throughout the playground interface. ## Invite-Only Beta and Waitlist
Is the Bookkeep Playground open to everyone?
The playground is available as a preview, but the underlying bookkeeping product is currently in a closed beta. Access to the working product is granted through an invite.
How do I join the beta?
You can join the waitlist directly from the Bookkeep Playground page. When beta slots open, waitlisted users are contacted in the order their requests were received.
How long is the waitlist?
Waitlist timing depends on the current beta capacity. We expand access as the beta progresses, and waitlisted users are notified as soon as a slot is available.
Will joining the waitlist guarantee access?
Joining the waitlist places you in line for an invite but does not guarantee access within a specific timeframe. Invitations are issued as beta capacity allows. ## Concierge Onboarding
What happens after I receive a beta invite?
Invited users are paired with a CompanyForge onboarding contact who walks them through setup, data import, and workflow configuration. The onboarding is hands-on rather than self-serve.
Is there a cost for onboarding?
No. Concierge onboarding is included for beta participants at no additional charge during the beta period.
How long does onboarding take?
Onboarding duration depends on the size of the books being imported and the readiness of the source documents. Your onboarding contact will outline a timeline specific to your situation. ## Data Handling Honesty
What happens to the data I enter in the playground?
Playground data is used to demonstrate the extraction and drafting workflow. It is not used to populate a production account, and retention follows the playground's stated data practices on the page.
Do you share playground data with third parties?
Playground data is not sold or shared for marketing purposes. Any service providers involved in operating the playground are bound by standard data-protection obligations.
How should I treat the playground in terms of sensitive information?
Because the playground is a preview environment, we recommend using the synthetic demo content or non-sensitive sample documents. Treat it as a demonstration tool rather than a production system. ## Pricing Posture
Does the Bookkeep Playground cost anything?
No. The playground is free to use during the beta period. It is provided as a way to experience the workflow before requesting beta access to the working product.
Will pricing change after the beta?
Pricing for the full bookkeeping product has not been finalized. While the product is in beta, access and onboarding remain free, and future pricing details will be communicated to beta participants before any changes take effect. ## Who the Playground Is NOT For
Is the playground a replacement for a production bookkeeping system?
No. The playground is a preview environment with synthetic data and scoped features. It is not designed to handle live business records or replace an operational ledger.
Can I use the playground to file taxes or produce audit-ready statements?
No. Outputs from the playground are for demonstration only and should not be used for tax filings, audits, or any compliance-purpose reporting.
Is the playground suitable for managing multiple companies or high transaction volumes?
No. The playground is built around a single sample company and a limited demo dataset. Multi-entity or high-volume bookkeeping needs are out of scope for the preview and require the full product.
What does the Invoice Maker actually generate?
It produces a downloadable invoice document based on the details you enter into the form. Each invoice is generated on demand and is intended for use in a single transaction between a Hong Kong seller and buyer.
What format is the invoice delivered in?
The invoice is delivered as a PDF file that you can save or print. The layout is fixed for the duration of the beta so we can gather consistent feedback.
Can I create more than one invoice at a time?
You can generate invoices one at a time by completing the form for each transaction. Bulk or recurring invoice generation is not part of the current beta scope.
Can I edit an invoice after it has been generated?
Once an invoice is generated and downloaded, edits are not made inside the tool. If you need to change details, you would generate a new version with the corrected information. --- ## Compliance posture
Does the invoice follow Hong Kong numbering requirements?
Yes. Each invoice you generate is assigned a sequential invoice number automatically, so the numbers run in order across the invoices you produce during the beta.
What required fields does the Hong Kong invoice include?
The form collects the standard fields expected on a Hong Kong invoice, including the seller and buyer details, invoice number, invoice date, description of goods or services, quantities, unit prices, and the total amount payable.
Does the invoice show payment terms and a due date?
Yes. You can enter payment terms and a due date, and these are reflected on the generated invoice alongside the total amount owed.
Is the generated invoice a valid tax invoice for Hong Kong?
The invoice is designed to include the fields generally expected on a Hong Kong invoice. It is your responsibility to review the final document and confirm it meets the requirements that apply to your specific transaction. --- ## Currencies and tax display
Which currencies can I issue invoices in?
You can select from a range of currencies commonly used by Hong Kong businesses, including HKD, USD, CNY, and other major currencies supported in the form.
Where is the currency shown on the invoice?
The chosen currency code is displayed next to every line item and next to the total amount on the invoice, so the currency is unambiguous throughout the document.
How is tax handled on the invoice?
If your transaction is subject to tax, you can enter the tax amount or rate in the form and it will be shown as a separate line on the invoice. If no tax applies, the tax line is omitted rather than left as zero.
Can I issue a zero-rated or tax-exempt invoice?
Yes. Where no tax is chargeable, the invoice is generated without a tax line so the document reflects the exempt treatment clearly. --- ## Data handling honesty
What happens to the data I enter into the form?
The details you enter are used to generate your invoice and are stored against your beta account so you can revisit earlier entries during the beta period.
Do you share my invoice data with third parties?
Invoice data is not sold or shared with third parties for marketing. Access is limited to the team operating the beta for the purpose of providing and improving the tool.
How long is my data retained?
Data entered during the invite-only beta is retained for the duration of the beta plus a short wind-down period. Specific retention windows are documented in our privacy notice.
Can I request deletion of my data?
Yes. You can request deletion of the data associated with your beta account, and it will be removed in line with the process described in our privacy notice. --- ## Beta status and waitlist
Is the Invoice Maker generally available?
No. The Invoice Maker is currently in an invite-only beta. Access is being granted in stages so we can manage feedback and stability.
How do I join the waitlist?
You can join the waitlist through the sign-up form on this page. Invitations are sent out as additional capacity is opened up during the beta.
Can features change during the beta?
Yes. Because the tool is in beta, the fields, layout, and supported options may be adjusted as we respond to feedback and refine the product. --- ## Who it is NOT for
Who is the Invoice Maker not designed for?
It is not designed for businesses that need automated recurring billing, multi-user approval workflows, or integration with accounting platforms. Those use cases sit outside the scope of the current beta.
Is it suitable for large enterprises with complex invoicing needs?
No. The Invoice Maker is built for simple, single-transaction invoicing and is not intended for organisations that require customised approval chains, purchase-order matching, or entity-level consolidation.
Should I use it for regulated or cross-border tax scenarios that require certification?
No. If your transactions require stamped or certified invoices, e-invoicing clearance, or jurisdiction-specific tax documents beyond a standard Hong Kong invoice, this tool is not the right fit and you should use a solution that explicitly supports those requirements.
